Charlie Sheen Says Crack Is OK

Charlie Sheen says he is clean and sober and has a girlfriend. I think when Charlie has a girlfriend it means he is paying her by the month instead of by the hour. In an interview with the Dan Patrick show, Charlie says he is peeing clean and ready to get back to work. "They said get your act together and I did.... Check it, it's like I heal really quickly. But I unravel pretty quickly. So get me right now, guys." That means that an unraveling is going to happen right when the current season ends. The season, which was going to be a full run has been cut dramatically which means that because of Charlie, many crew members are not going to be paid what they were expecting.

As for that speech he gave to the UCLA baseball team last week when he told them to drink chocolate milk instead of crack, Charlie now says that what he told them was to sty away from crack unless they can manage it socially. Umm, so that is some great advice for a bunch of college kids. Look it's ok to go ahead and smoke crack as long as you want to be a toothless a-hole like Charlie.

He has offered to pay the crew's salary for the canceled episodes.

Yeah, because losing all your teeth and abusing women works out so well for everyone.

This guy has an unlimited supply of cash, and that is the only reason he is not in jail for many years at this point.

Michael Sheen is the Dicky Ecklund of Hollywood and it's sad because it seems he's professional in set

I have a friend who actually can use cocaine socially, many more that can't. He may be able to do his job properly, but there's not many who can. Irresponsible of him to suggest that "social crack use" is possible.

Gotta say I love this interview. He is not beating around the bush, or trying to pretend to be something he is not. No filter there, my friends. Wow.

I mean, I am not advocating for social crack use - I think he is wrong. But at least he is honest

drug users and addicts always amuse me. putting something in your body that will eventually lead to an addiction.

i have no sympathy nor empathy for any of them.

Maybe I'm too sheltered but I have never thought of crack as a social drug.

Well at least he was honest and up front about it. No White Oprah style spin and/or excuses.

Has he yet admitted that he is, in fact, the biggest douche in the universe?

Come on O, he can't reveal it all in the first interview! That will come later.

He offered to pay 1/3 of crew's salary IF others paid the other 2/3. And, again, why isn't he neutered?!?!?!?!

Momster said...

Bah, didn't work, try again. . .

Charlie Sheen says he is clean and sober (for at least twenty-four hours) and has a (paid) girlfriend (cash only, please).

Fixed it for ya, /wink

Well, he needs the others to chip in on the crew's salaries. His lifestyle ain't cheap. ;)

Chuck Lorre must be wishing he was on the Moon right now.

I seriously hate this guy. First of all, paying the crew's salaries was the LEAST he could do for being such an enormous screw up. I really wish they'd just cancel that God awful show.

Second, please show me the statistics of people on crack that can "manage socially." I'd buy that for other drugs but not crack.

I heard part of this interview and Charlie boy sounded like he was under the influence. I seriously doubt that he's sober and I think CBS has finally had enough.

Meth, Crack and Heroin are hard addictions to break.

He's honest, I'll give him that. He's an addict and has been for years. Trying to get him to sober up was a joke because YOU CANNOT FORCE SOMEONE INTO REHAB. If he had decided that he had hit rock bottom and had had enough then fine, but he is not willing or able to do it now because he doesn't want to.

I’m honestly being serious here: I wonder if Charlie has an undiagnosed brain chemical imbalance?

**This is long but I’m writing it in the event this could help someone out there. I am not a doctor, just a parent that has gone through this and our family has learned a lot.

People with chemical imbalances cannot handle everyday stress – things that we “normal” people don’t even think twice about, for instance choosing what to wear in the morning before work, what to have for dinner, walking alone in a public place. Things we might experience a little stress with (like having a deadline to do something) can send them into a full panic mode. Because their minds don’t have sufficient chemicals to balance the “fight or flight” response during stressful situations, almost every moment for them is filled with unexplained and unrelenting panic.

This inability to handle stress shows up as anxiety, panic attacks, depression, blaming their problems on others, and blowing small incidents completely out of proportion resulting inappropriate, sudden and (possibly huge) fits of rage (‘knife in the neck at Christmas’ anyone?). In children, the fits of rage may have the child throwing things, kicking, screaming, attempting to harm themselves (cutting in girls), and constantly screaming at the parents, “I hate you!” even though you have done everything you know to help them.

Because they don’t understand what is happening to them, they use different things to try to numb their internal panic. Younger kids do this by cutting or doing dangerous stunts on skateboards or bikes and getting hurt. Older kids and adults abuse drugs and alcohol. Unfortunately suicide is common, partly due to planned suicides but often due to inadvertent overdoses of drugs and or alcohol as they try to blot out the panic.

Usually these imbalances have a genetic component, so if someone in their gene pool has had bouts with drug abuse, alcoholism, panic attacks, or a suicide attempt(s), there is a possibility this person may have a CI.

CIs can show up in children as young as 6 years old, but most commonly rear their ugly heads during the teenage years when stress in high school or college pushes them over the edge.

CIs never go away and will get worse with age, even if taking meds. (The meds don’t fix the brain’s inability to manufacture the chemicals; they just provide the missing chemical.) Once the patient is on meds, they will most likely stay have to stay on them the rest of their lives.

Ironically, you cannot take a blood test for a chemical imbalance, you have to see a psychologist who will do multiple personality tests and from these you get your diagnosis.

I know this because my 15 y.o. daughter had been having trouble since she was 13. Counselors didn’t help at all. Six months ago after a huge meltdown, I took her to a psychologist who, WITHIN TEN MINUTES of me describing my daughter’s symptoms, said it’s one of two things, one being a chemical imbalance. Testing proved it was a CI. (The counselors didn’t do testing, they just counseled.)

She has been on Zoloft for six months with utterly amazing results. I cannot tell you how often I thank God for that psychologist and for the prescription drug companies. She still has periods of panic but they are much less than before. We do have follow up meds management with a psychiatrist, but this is a small inconvenience to having our beautiful daughter back!

The psychologist described our daughter when we first brought her to him as living in “constant terror.” I never would have known that. While we talked often, I only saw a sad, depressed teen who was mad at the world and especially me.

My point is, we don’t know what is going on in his brain. Maybe he IS living in panic mode and needs help.

Just my two cents…

"He has offered to pay the crew's salary for the canceled episodes."

That's not correct. He offered to pay 1/3, but only if CBS and WBTV paid the other 2/3. And four of the un-filmed final eight episodes have been canceled, and there's been no word if the crew will be compensated for those.

Chelmore, thank you for your post. I appreciate that on this blog people take the time to leave considered commentary. Glad to hear your daughter is doing well.

Saying that crack is a "social drug" is like saying veneral disease is a friendly reminder. Spoken like a true addict. " I can manage, I have been to work, I was here the crew was not" Here is what I would say to him regarding those-Yes, you can manage, but we have to change our lives/schedules/shoots/visits with your family. Yes, you were there we were not-We were meeting with other prodution companies and our union reps to see what we needed to do to support our own families. We were also speaking to our sponsors/friends in AA and NA to have resources available.
Sadly, the only "I" that I believe we will be seeing is when his father says "I am sad to say that Charlie has lost his battle with addiction today and I ask for privacy for us and our family at this time".

"Clean and sober" my ass. He showed up at the studio when he knew the show wasn't in production, and knocked and shouted until he lost his voice. Either he is still using, or he is even dumber than Denise. Most likely, it's both.

@chelmore, you are right about how dangerous CIs can be. My good friend's nephew told his parents he wanted to die when he was five!! He's been on meds for 14 years now. It's helped. I hope your daughter continues to do well and stays on her meds once she's an adult.

On a Charlie-related note, did any of you read to thing at the end of "Two and a half Men" last night? You know, the thing that flashes up at the end of the show that Chuck Lorrie writes? Is it called a vanity card? Anyway, it said stuff like "I eat right, exercise, go to the doctor. I don't drink or do drugs or engage in sex with high-risk partners. I am going to be really pissed if Charlie Sheen outlives me." Those aren't the exact words, but that's the gist of it. I thought it was pretty funny. Certainly funnier than the show is now a days.

I'm already a toothless asshole. Too bad I gave crack up over 10 years ago.

Can't Ron Livingston sub in on Two and a Half Men? He and Sheen seem interchangeable to me. Then Charlie can go away.

Ok, I know people who can use cocaine socially (although even that, only for a short period of time before it starts to spiral out of control) but this is not cocaine, this is crack. No one can use crack socially. It is physically and psychologically addictive, and it will destroy your health very quickly. This is complete garbage. Of course he has to justify his life somehow. I imagine he even believes this crap.
