Today's Blind Items
Something a little different today. A copy of a rider. Of a B list movie actress although she did some television back in the day. Oh, and she is an Academy Award winner/nominee.
It is generally 35-50k to fulfill her rider, but we should always plan at the higher end and hope that it's less.
The fees associated with using _________ are as follows (please note that all numbers listed are estimates):
$7,500-12,500 for stylist fee and wardrobe budget (based in LA)
$7,500 - 12,500 for hair, makeup, nails fee, agency fees, and travel day fees (Makeup based in NYC, Nails based in NYC and LA)
$15-25,000 for travel rider, but could be more or less based on what cities __________ and the members of her entourage are traveling from and returning to. It is generally required to book flights for _____________ through her travel agent so her commerical (sic) plane requirements are met.
Entourage Flight Travel Includes:
-2 first class tickets for ________**
-1 Business class ticket for __________'s assistant
-1 Business class ticket for stylist
-1 Economy ticket for stylist assistant
-1 Business class ticket for hair stylist
-1 Business class ticket for makeup artist
-1 Economy class ticket for security (if integration is occurring somewhere other than NY or LA)
-1 Economy class ticket for manicurist (if integration is occurring somewhere other than NY or LA)
**If this planned activation happens and it is required for her to be back on set the next morning, we may be required to book a private charter on the return.
Other fees:
-Hotel fees: ___________ requires a suite at a 5 star hotel (specific hotels based on market), and single rooms for her entourage at the same property.
-Car Service: requires 2-3 SUV's for all members of team
-Greeter Service at Airport
-Security fee
-Per diem: $150 per day, per person. I have also included a list of snacks and requirements for her dressing room/trailer.
Don't ask me why but I think Julianne Moore who did Soaps back in the day.
ReplyDeleteWOW!!
ReplyDeleteActually scratch that, there is no mention of nanny service and she has a kid and hubby. But whoever it is I am jealous as all hell, I need a better agent/manager, lol
ReplyDeleteGLEN close?
ReplyDeleteImmediately thought J-Lo, then remembered the Academy Award part... (as if!!)
ReplyDeleteHilary Swank did 90210 long, long ago.
ReplyDeleteI'm stuck. Jennifer Hudson, Marisa Tomei, Michelle Williams, Helen Hunt, Amy Adams? Although I feel if they were mothers, nannies would have been mentioned.
ReplyDeleteAt least the estimated cost for all of this is laid out in the beginning. No surprises.
I'm thinking someone older - 50's - because of the "back in the day" statement but am stumped for a name.
ReplyDeleteSkittleKitty: I wanted this to be JLo. I even checked to see if she was nominated for Selena. (she wasn't)
ReplyDeleteSalma Hayak? Penelope Cruz? Both were nominated, both started in TV.

ReplyDeleteAll I know is, I wish I'd gotten into show business a long time ago!
ReplyDeleteThe language is so weird, I'm wondering if they're foreign born. Like, "the planned activation," and "if integration is occurring." Or just a really bad rider written by someone who can't write.
ReplyDeleteOh. Oh. Or maybe a Scientologist? They love their made up psychobabble phrases.
Let's look at the clauses themselves -
ReplyDeleteHer makeup is in NYC, so I'm guessing that's where she's based mostly. The stylist is LA, but you need a hands-on make-up artist more often than you need a hands-on stylist.
She needs 2 first class tickets for herself? So no one sits next to her or is there someone she travels with constantly (someone who is not her assistant because the assistant flies business; the 2nd ticket is for a safety space or a peer).
Gulf - which NYC actress has been active with Katrina or the oil spill charities?
As to an actual guess? I got nuthin.
cruz
ReplyDeleteI'm sure someone should be able to figure it out from this part: "**If this planned activation happens in the Gulf and it is required for her to be back on set the next morning, we may be required to book a private charter on the return."
ReplyDeleteThe gulf? Why would they specifically mention that? Is it someone from that area and they get a lot of requests for her to make appearances in/near her hometown? There has to be a reason that was the only area mentioned.
Oh it's Angelina. Lives on the Gulf.
ReplyDeleteEither her or Sandra Bullock who also lives there.
the gulf part made me think theyre filming there...ala true blood/anna paquin (sm never leaves her side, oscar winner)
ReplyDeleteI think the event requiring the rider is near the gulf.
ReplyDeleteCruz or Hudson? That's a lot for styling!
ReplyDeleteAngie and Sandra are strictly A list aren't they? Plus they didn't do tv I don't think, oh except HBO for Angie.
ReplyDeleteI don't know, maybe Julianne Moore?
Is it just my imagination or was "gulf" just removed from the blind?
ReplyDeletedemi moore? her kids are old enough to not travel with her.
ReplyDeleteOkay guys Ashley Judd is set to film a movie in the Gulf area called Dolphin Tale.
ReplyDeleteThe Rider works because like someone pointed out this person doesn't have children... I would imagine if you did have kids you would put a nanny into the Rider at some point. Right?
BUT I don't think she was nominated or any movies she was in were ever...
I was looking @ Sally Field for an older Hwood Oscar winner/nom.
ReplyDeleteI did not see the part about the Gulf.
And true that for me needing a better job because I will fly economy and have 150 per diem per day. I love me some Jack in the Box so that money will go far!
just throwing her into the mix.....
ReplyDeleteSharon Stone
Yes - the gulf part was just edited out of the original blind. A clue!
ReplyDeleteI think Catherine Zeta Jones (Oscar for Chicago) would have the balls to demand this, and she did TV on the BBC back in the day I think.
ReplyDeletePenelope Cruz would be a good guess, and a very hoity toity one too. I don't think it would be Christina Applegate.
ReplyDeletePenelope Cruz would be a good guess, and a very hoity toity one too. I don't think it would be Christina Applegate.
ReplyDeleteI didn't see anything about "the Gulf" - but there's absolutely no way this Angelina or Sandra. I like the Anna Paquin guess. Clearly that is the key to the puzzle since it was removed the minute someone referenced is in the comments.
ReplyDeleteI'm definitely on the Anna Paquin train.
TheSmokingGun.com has celeb riders (some of which are diva-esque or just plain odd).
ReplyDeleteNot so long ago the site had one page with links and links to complete, scanned and uploaded tour riders of tens of dozens of celebs. Either they've changed their site or I'm having trouble accessing it, but it doesn't look as if they have all that info on their site any longer.
Applegate lacks an oscar nom
ReplyDeleteNow I don't know if "gulf" was a clue considered too obvious, or if it was a mistake to begin with. Arghhhh!!! I'm going to say it was a big time clue. It had already been removed by the time I read it. I thought "Man, these people cannot read!" when I read all the posts discussing "the planned activation in the gulf". LOL.
ReplyDeleteKLM, the 'Gulf' part was deleted. See Jessica above.
ReplyDeleteThere is no way it's Anna Paquin. They would not say she did TV "back in the day" if she was currently on one of the hottest shoes on television.
ReplyDeletewhoever this is-they need a sh*tload of people to look good...pretty sad if you ask me!
ReplyDeleteI thought being an Academy award winner/nominee made you A list?
ReplyDeleteHmmm Kathleen Turner. Just to be different.
ReplyDeleteMango, the Smoking Gun riders are in the "backstage" section.
ReplyDeleteMaybe Anne Hathaway? I just checked her IMDB and she started out on a tv show.
ReplyDeleteI know Amy Adams fits all the clues but she seems way too down to earth to be this pretentious.
And I really don't think having children would matter here. Riders are usually for one-time appearances, usually no more than one day or overnight. This wouldn't be for long-term things. If the person has a nanny, they would most likely leave the kid at home with the nanny.
i read all that and realized i kind of don't care
ReplyDeleteRedTide - thanks but the info they used to have was more comprehensive. Their site has changed a lot since I last surfed by.
ReplyDeleteFaye Dunaway
ReplyDeleteI hate to say it but this doesn't seem that ludicrous to me. I work in the industry and when I have clients going somewhere (I rep like, F list has been celebs, no one impressive, lol) I require them to have 1st class travel and hotel for themselves and a guest, including portal to portal car transport. My friend is the hairstylist to an A List tween and wherever she travels, he travels 1st class, as I'm sure her stylist, makeup artist, and family do as well. I agree that these "standards" are delusional but they are somewhat industry standard. Maybe slightly inflated due to the size of the entourage, but imagine what Heidi Klum's travel fees must be?! Nanny for each kid, security, the kids, hubby, assistant, hubby's assistant..etc.
ReplyDeleteGoldie Hawn, just to throw another name out there.
ReplyDeleteWho the fuck cares about celeb riders?
ReplyDelete@ .robert - I read the post about the Gulf by Jessica (and several other) - my comments were directed at the fact that since that part of the post has been removed, it was clearly a bigtime clue. And being that Anna Paquin films near the Gulf, that's why I was jumping on that train. But thanks anyway.
ReplyDeleteIt still says the Gulf in the version on Blind Gossip. There are two things I cant figure out. Why would the planned activation happening in the Gulf be a clue? and what the heck is a planned activation?
ReplyDeleteStraw Dogs with Skarsgaard and Kate Bosworth was filmed in LA. However, she isn't b list in my book.
ReplyDeleteMarisa Tomei is a great guess. Oscar winner, and was on a sit com with the Cosby daughter. I can't think of her name.
ReplyDeletewow, it's slim pickings now.
ReplyDeleteLike SFG says, these demands aren't outrageous but I guess we're supposed to think they are, so who's supposed to shock and surprise us with these demands?
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking Sandy.
"Planned activation" sounds like a military term to me and in the Gulf could refer to Iraq rather than Louisiana. Also, if "integration is occurring" is bizarre phrasing no matter what it means... but *could* refer to coming back through US customs (I think it has to refer to a flight connection somehow or they would know where the actress was coming from/going to for sure). My guess = this is someone's rider for a USO tour or similar -- that would also explain the features of the rider (i.e., it sounds like someone doing publicity for something which they otherwise don't have a contract for and aren't making any money out of).
ReplyDeleteHelent Hunt.
ReplyDeleteI know she is supposed to be low key, at least her persona is...
ReplyDeleteI keep coming back to Sandra Bullock.
She has a strong connection to the gulf, she used to be on tv, she has been nominated.
Some people don't think she's a list.
Susan Sarandon. Did soaps back in the day, Oscar winner, maybe the Gulf clause is related to her much younger ping-pong heir??
ReplyDeleteI remember thinking it sounded like the Persian Gulf when that was still up.
ReplyDeleteAngelina is the only one I could think of, but I don't think it possibly could be. The U.N. certainly wouldn't pay for this crap.
Seemed like it was implying if actress was needed in the Gulf (whichever one) then a private charter might be required for return to other (filming) location, rather than Gulf was the actress' usual location. But that's just my interpretation.
Angie is not B-list. "Salt" just won its opening weekend, plus she's one of the top 3 (?) highest-paid actresses still. A-list.
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely somebody who's over the hill a bit, but legendary and/or respected enough to request and receive such extravagance. I have nothing on this one.
It's gotta be a nominee instead of a winner if they're B-List in Enty's eyes. He has said quite a few times that Oscar winners are perma-Alist
ReplyDeleteIs Christine Lahti a movie actress? She won an Oscar, but I only really know her from TV. Is she even B-List?
ReplyDeleteWhat about Emma Thompson? I would consider her A-List, but maybe not in America. She started on TV in the UK, and won an Oscar in 1992. Maybe that explains the strange phrases: a UK rep.
True Blood finished filming recently, won't start filming the new season for another few months...and it's mainly filmed on a soundstage here in LA, not the Gulf. All that being said, i doubt it's Anna Paquin.
ReplyDeleteThis is either some kind of charity/promo event or the actress is pretty damn low-key. (Celebs still get paid for charity events)
ReplyDelete$150 per diem is pretty skimp in Hollywood standards.
$7500-12K for stylist & wardrobe budget???? Even if only for a one day appearance this is not outrageous, but actually really conservative. And by conservative I mean "Jennifer Garner" styling read: Target.
did they take it out or what because i have 'gulf' no where on my entire page...
ReplyDeleteI don't think it is Sandra Bullock. My sister lives in Austin and has seen her in the Austin airport solo and/or with small entourage flying commercial. Very low key.

ReplyDeleteashley judd?
ReplyDeleteI don't think there is anything unusual about this. Appearence is a major factor for an actress and it is usual for them to use someone they have worked with before and trust. The movie has to provide those services anyways so its just a question of who selects them (the actress or the producers). Airfare, hotels, per diems are all standard aspects of shooting on location. The "activation" wording, while strange, really justs addresses what appears to be a scheduling issue. It appears the actress may be called elsewhere for another existing commitment and, if that happens, she may have to charter a plane to meet the schedule. While chartering a plane sounds pretensious it is probably common sense since it can cost hundreds of thousands of dollars a day to have a film crew waiting around for her to arrive on a commercial flight. As for a lack of a nanny, it probably means that the actress either doesn't have children, any children are grown up or any children are old enough to be in school. Actresses generally take only pre-school children with them to location.
ReplyDeleteThere are celebrities who request -- and get -- all these per diems and air tickets, then keep the per diems themselves and cash in the air tickets for money or ff points.
ReplyDeleteOr: One BC ticket can be returned for a coach seat for an assistant and significant cash.
