Perez Hilton Offered $20M For His Site
I don't usually talk about the Holiday Inn guy, but Gawker obtained a copy of the letter of intent sent to Perez' lawyers. The site would be owned by Zack Taylor, who is Canadian and runs a gossip site that is always sending out press releases, Nic Richie, who runs thedirty.com and finally, the big money behind the bid is Avid Life who shelled out $20M for hotornot a couple of years ago.
So, the interesting thing behind all of this is that it appears that Perez would have to say bye bye to his site. The new owners just want to use the domain to forward it to their new gossip site. They are basically buying the 55 million weekly page views. Perez has other sites and other interests now so it will be interesting to see if he is willing to walk away for $20M.

Agree!! But he himself killed the site with his tasteless self promotion, excess of advertise and belligerent political posts. In his mind he is some sort of Hedda Hopper Louella Parsons, that can make or break careers, be friends with celebrities and o cultural icon. The site was actually funny until 3 years ago, but know people just bother to go there out of boredom, when Michael K is not posting or Enty is on his weekend break.
$20 mil for drawing pee pee lines and penises on pictures is a great deal.

I don't even think MK is writing Dlisted any longer. I have noticed for a little while now that the style is different even though the writer uses his phrases and tries to sound like him. Yes, I know he is currently on vacay, but I noticed some time ago.
This make me sick. PIGEZ getting 20mil makes me want to vomit. Jeez.. Life is so unfair sometimes.
I boycotted his site a long time ago, and I am proud to say, I've NEVER broken down. Even on slow days....

Personally, I never got the appeal of Perez Hilton and his site. He's sleazy, immature, and terribly vulgar.
If this offer is legit then he's an idiot if he doesn't take the money. Are you kidding me? He can start a new site or he can relax for the rest of his life.

I think Michael K is still writing Dlisted, but I also think he has some help now. If PerezHilton.com is worth $20M, what the hell is Dlisted.com worth? It's so much better than Perez ever was.

the reason he doesn't have as many comments anymore is because you now have to be a registered user to comment, besides, did you ever read the comments? they were 400 peolpe all typing "first" thinking they got there first.
And second, his site sucks now! I used to love it, but its literally yesterdays news. They are about a day behind other sites.
Third, he became a victim of his own "fame." He used to be a bitchy queen (i mean this in a good way) who spoke his mind, then he started to get famous and didn't want to offend anyone. Remember Star Jones?

I love Michael K and by his own admission, he has toned down his language a bit and is not quite as outrageous as in the olden days.
I think he is one of the best comedy writers around and Perez never came close.

Ditto! Michael K is the greatest. I would love for him to get 20 million, but at the same time, I don't want Dlisted to go away, or him to not write it, so I kinda don't want him to get 20 million LOL Sorry MK!
I have two thoughts on this:
1. If he does sell it and it ceases to exist, you just KNOW Tila Tequila, excuse me, Miss Tila, will claim it was she that ran him out of business, and I don't think I could live with that.
And
2. I haven't noticed a difference in MK's posts since I started reading it circa, shit, 2003. Except, of course, that he has more time to post as that is his only job.
Also, I agree with everyone else who said that MK should get the 20 million. He sure as hell should!

This doesn't make much sense to me unless there was a clause that Perez couldn't start a new gossip site. What's to stop him from advertising his new site to his readers and then having them all abandon ship when they discovered his old page just links to Canada?
Michael K is the absolute GREATEST! Nothing cracks my shit up more than Dlisted, especially when he adds his little personal accounts of drunken nights, random whoredom, or cholita cousins. I am really glad he was not offered a shitload of money to give up his site, but I hope makes bank to keep it.

I started reading Perez' site when it was pagesixsixsix. I get everyone's complaints. However, I used to email him and when my son had open-heart surgery 4 years ago (anniversary is today actually) and Mario found out about it, he sent my son money to buy a present with. I'll never forget that random, unexpected kindness. Not everything is black and white.

It is totally outrageous and insane that PH should get millions of dollars to reward him for being a self-obsessed creep who will do anything - and I mean anything - for fame. That said, if it gets rid of his site, good. I've decided never to visit his site again because I'm sick and tired of his arbitrary prosecution of certain stars. It's like he is hell-bent on causing nervous breakdowns just so he can profit by putting them on his stupid blog. Jerk.

I adore Michael K - DListed and this site are the best gossip sites on the web, IMHO. I would detest Perez if he were really writing the crap on 'his' blog, but judging by the grammar, maturity and content, I suspect it's being written by a bunch of Junior HS twits/mean girls.
Ms Cool, I think fame went to his head. I emailed him a few times in the early days and he was very nice. But then he turned into a dick. :(
Thanks to you folks, I finally got around to deleting P. Hilton off my bookmarks. His "gossip" is stale anyway, ever since I found CDAN.
For his sake he should take it and go. He's over anyway. But it really makes me angry that someone like that is being rewarded with millions of dollars for... nothing.

I love CDAN, Dlisted and The Superficial, but Perez is just sad. If you read the comments on his site, it becomes very clear. It's full of "OMG ur so ghey n fat u faget", and he just keeps on catering to these people! Love me! Pay attention to me! I also don't believe he does a lot of the "writing" anymore, but whoever does, doesn't seem to be the sharpest tool in the shed.
