I have the biggest crush on Joseph Gordon-Levitt after watching (500) Days of Summer. He's so adorable, and I hope he wins.
Jane Lynch is awesome in Glee. I want her to win.
There are so many movies here that I haven't seen yet, but I LOVED Meryl Streep as Julia Child. If you are Meryl Streep, and you are nominated twice in the same category, you had better win. That's all I have to say about that. She is amazing.
I was pleasantly suprised by The Hangover - it was funnier than I thought it would be. It was less dumb than I thought it would be.
I LOVE NPH and everyone else but Piven in the supporting role TV, but if Lithgow doesn't win, there is something REALLY, REALLY wrong.
Joseph Gordon-Levitt is the shit. A fine example of how you can be a child actor and not turn out to be a useless douche.
The Hurt Locker and District 9 were the best movies of the year IMO. Amazing.
I'm w/amh.producer on that one. Lithgow ruled. I love NPH as well and I think it's a crime against nature that he's gay (I'm a straight chick) but you can't touch Lithgow as Trinity. He has to win.
I also think Michael C Hall deserves to win over Hugh Laurie. House jumped the shark as soon as that kid killed himself and House went into the loonie bin.
I hope Edie Falco wins for her role. I love Toni Collette and she should win if Edie can not but Edie should win. Hands down, that woman is a brilliant actress and she has been really lucky and/or smart to be in the shows she's been involved in the past 10 yrs or so. Always really quality shows and when she does go onto a new role, you totally forget the old one. I don't see Carmela when I watch Nurse Jackie and I never missed an episode of The Sopranos. Edie is the Meryl Streep of Cable TV shows.

Lithgow singlehandedly kicked Dexter up a notch this past season. it'd be a travesty if he weren't recognized for that.
I must respectfully disagree about House jumping the shark - the scenes when House was crazy were absolutely brilliant.
I don't understand how movies like Avatar - which hadn't been released to the public yet - qualify for these awards.
My bf and I were talking just last night about how awesome Christoph Waltz was in Inglourious Basterds. Totally creepy in a wonderful way.
Modern Family is awesome - hopefully next year it will get some love.

Good to see from fresh blood in the TV categories especially Modern Family and Jane Lynch. Jane Adams was very good in Hung, but I don't think she has a prayer.
Entourage hasn't been good for about 3 seasons now. I would have preferred Parks and Rec get the nod instead. Parks came back VERY strong this fall. If you only saw it last spring, give it a second shot.
Hugh Laurie continues to bring it, but House the show not so much.

Happy for Damages, the best unwatched drama on TV. Also happy for Chloe Sevigny, who always brings it. But why no love for the Big Bang Theory? Is there anybody funnier on all of TV than Jim Parsons as Sheldon?

Other than the Dexter noms I didn't really like any of the others...I hate when actresses/actors get multiple nods. I can't believe Sandra Bullock got one for the proposal - cute movie, but doesn't deserve any huge awards.

i don't get the love for '30 rock.' it sucks. it's not funny---baldwin's funny but that's it.
there's pretty much shit on TV but even when there's something exceptional, it gets ignored by these award shows every year. 'breaking bad', anyone? 'the wire'---probably the greatest thing ever on TV never got any recognition. ditto for 'the shield.'
the whole process is political and has very little to do with real quality, which is why i couldn't care less.
Biggest travesty: Jennifer Carpenter not getting a nomination for Dexter??? That woman was amazing in that role on Dexter. MCH had better win as well...and Jon Lithgow??? If he doesn't win as Trinity I am SOOOOO over awards shows...I must ask you Ent...do you watch Dexter? Best show on TV.
Edie Falco-amazing as Nurse Jackie...how she convinced me she was a mafia wife and grew up that way and now has completely disappeared into a role of a verteran nurse-she is incredible...love that show! Wish it were an hour long though.

I agree with most of EL's picks,except I think Precious will be this year's "Crash". The HFPA likes picking new faces. I think the Best Actor TV Drama race is going to be close- between Hugh Laurie and Michael C. Hall. Dexter will have a lot of buzz after that OMFG finale, but Greg House went through a major shift. Gabourey is this year's breakout star, but she is most definitely in the toughest category. What comedy film was better this year than "The Hangover?". I think the Golden Globes are always the most difficult awards to predict.
Oh, and John Lithgow BETTER win. When he does, I would like him to get in close to the mike and say, "Hello... Dexter Morgan!"
