Today's Blind Items - What Do You Think Version
A little something different today in the blind items as it also involves a what do you think. You won't be able to get the name of the subject but you can get the name of his father. The subject is a teenager and and is the son of a singer. The singer shares the same name as a reality judge which often causes confusion. Anyway, the son met this girl and had one date. Immediately after the date the boy started texting her, phoning her, e-mailing her and driving by her house. This went on all the time. It was certainly close to stalking. So, if you are the teenage girl's parents what do you do? Do you call the boy's parents? Well they didn't. Do you call the police? Well they didn't. Do you call the tabloids and try and sell the story? Ding ding ding. We have a winner. That is exactly what they did. Their first thought was to call a tabloid and the tabloids jumped all over the story until they realized it was the son of the singer and not of the reality judge. The fact that the parents only concern in this was to make as much money as possible off the stalking of their daughter is awful. I expect the tabloids to jump all over it because that is what they do, but parents should care for their kids and not exploit them in a potentially dangerous situation.
Randy Jackson?
ReplyDeleterandy jackson
ReplyDeleteRandy Jackson has several sons, in the 15 to 18 year old range.
ReplyDeleteHis name would be confused with Randy Jackson from American Idol.
Randy Jackson is my thought, too.
ReplyDeleteMake money where you can. JK - I think it is despicable.
oops, sorry bflogurl - didn't see you beat me to it!
ReplyDeletewow, you guys are quick (and good!)!
ReplyDeletethe girl's parents are total crap tho...wow.
This was almost too easy.
ReplyDeleteConsidering all the press LaToya gets, why wouldn't the tabloids jump on the Randy Jackson of MJ fame story?
ReplyDeleteEither way, not sure the parents of the girl would have the boy's parents' number. If I was the parent, I'd have called the cops AND the tabloids, just to make sure the fame thing didn't get in the way of the complaint being taken seriously.
my first thought!!!! RJ
ReplyDeleteActually, you would expect a piece of shit family to let their daughter date a piece of shit Jackson member.
ReplyDeleteI'm on the Randy Jackson bandwagon. And the fact that parents would exploit their children in this manner - although nothing new - is despicable.
ReplyDeleteWhat do I think? I think these people are scum, don't care who they are OR who the kid is.
ReplyDeleteFucking Idiocracy we're living in. No wonder the whole world hates the USA's guts.
Two thoughts:
ReplyDelete(1) I know American Idol is big -- but since when is Randy Jackson the judge a bigger tabloid story than Randy Jackson the former member of the Jackson Five? That doesn't make any sense to me. If I'm a tabloid, I'm interested in the story either way in that case.
(2) If it's my daughter, I just want this to stop. And to be perfectly frank, I think the route chosen by the parents in this case would be the one that is most likely to stop the behavior. The police almost certainly can't do a damn thing -- not even talk to the kid -- unless he outright threatened the girl somehow. And I think talking to the parents would be a waste of time in this case. So hit them where they actually will feel the sting -- in their reputation.
Wow her parents deserve an award for Parent of the Year.
ReplyDeleteDaveR - i think you might be on to something there. Times two.
ReplyDeleteOkay, wait.
ReplyDeleteAside from the Randy Jackson of the Jackson family who's an Idol judge, there's a singer named Randy Jackson?
Who is he? I've never heard of him.
the singer is randy jackson of the jackson family, and the reality judge would be randy jackson from american idol.
ReplyDeleteWhoa! I lurk on a message board on Lipstick Alley and there is a chick there claiming to be talking to Randy Jackson Jr. Says he reached out to her via Myspace and they talk all the time...at first I thought it was a little weird but after reading this I believe her and feel very sorry for Randy Jr. What a sad life he must have!
ReplyDeleteI think the tabloids should call the police on the parents for exploiting their child! Also, I wonder if the story is completely true, i.e., did the girl tell her parents the truth about everything or was she leaving stuff out? When I was a teenager, a huge portion of what I said about boys was not exactly true since my main goal was trying to get away with as much as possible and not get grounded.
ReplyDeleteBTW, I agree that Randy Jackson is a great guess! I can't even think of an alternative.
That blind was wafer thin!
ReplyDeleteThose parents are disgusting. Should have gone to the cops.
ReplyDeleteI'm with Pimp DaveR. I think that celeb parents will let their kids get away with anything and everything as long as there isn't bad press, and the police are limited in what they can do. However, alerting the tabloids will both force the parents to stop the boy, and will assure that the boy will be followed by the press and caught if he continues to stalk her. I wouldn't assume that it's all for the money.
ReplyDeleteJudge Joe Brown and British singer Joe Brown?
ReplyDeleteYeah, no one has heard of the British singer in the States. Just going for another answer.

I thought they were one and the same person! Can you tell I don't watch Idol? Thanks, QS. You taught me something today. :-)
And THAT young lady will never trust her parents again. Can you imagine going to your parents to solve a problem, and having it end up in the tabloids!
ReplyDeleteAs if teenage girls don't have enough to deal with!
Any chance this could be Mark Wahlberg?
ReplyDeleteMark Wahlberg doesn't have any teenage sons that I know of.

ReplyDelete@janele: that's what I was thinking! Then I saw the comments and, oh, I was thinking "reality judge" meant one of those silly court shows. At least I didn't think it was Judge Judy! LOL
ReplyDelete@Judi: I don't watch AI either and when I first saw Randy Jackson of AI, I thought, "Gosh! He doesn't even look like a Jackson!"
Whoops! So many Randy Jackson's in the world!
ReplyDeleteAs for what I think .. I think the parents are scumbags. I would have called his parents first - if possible - and asked that they rein in their son. If that didn't work .. I would have called the cops. I don't think tabloids would have even entered my mind .. then again I am not infected by "Gosselin -itis" and looking for my 15 minutes and I have also had a stalker. So .. my decision would be colored by that.
Like the police are going to do anything. Everybody knows that Jacksons don't learn from being in trouble with the police.....the only thing they learn from is bad publicity. If the parents really want him to stop harrassing their daughter, then I say hit 'em where it hurts....their reputation.
ReplyDeleteOnly in America would parents do this sort of thing. Try to get money at the expense of their children!

Randy Jackson of American Idol was in Journey, not the same as the Jackson brother
ReplyDeletePimp DaveR is right. I was stalked when I was a teen (back in the late 80s, early 90s) and I didn't even know who was doing it. Just a lot of very scary, very graphic phones calls the MINUTE that I would walk in the door. When I wasn't home, nothing. I get home, almost instant ringing. (This was before caller ID was common place.) Phone company tapped my phone and traced the call. Then told me they couldn't tell me who was making the calls because he was a minor! I was 18, legally an adult. They said they had contacted the boy's family and told the family that they would prosecute if it ever happened again. I never got another call, but to this day I don't know who it was. This guy was a wackjob 20 years ago, and is now a grown man who I still may have occassional contact with (I don't live that far from where I lived then and visit my parents weekly.). This may have been the most effective course of action. Sleezy, but effective.
ReplyDeletei haven't started to think about the blind part of this yet but dear lord, what the hell is wrong with people?! i was stalked for awhile by someone i didn't know and finally had to move. you just never know how someone's actions will escalate when they are stalking you and it is the parents' job to protect their children. i swear, sometimes i think i would totally support some kind of law requiring training and a licence in order to have a kid.
ReplyDeleteokay, just read the rest of the comments and randy jackson seems like he would totally fit so i'm agreeing with that guess. famewhore, check. teen sons, check. reality judge, check.
ReplyDeleteSo nobody else on here called somebody all the time and drove by their house (all the time) when they were 16?
