Suzanne Somers Apologizes - Kind Of

I guess Suzanne Somers apologized to the family of Patrick Swayze. I mean she said the words she was sorry, but it didn't really sound as if she meant it. On her website, Suzanne said, "In a casual conversation at a party (with someone who never identified himself as a reporter)... I was asked about this beloved actor.

"It was never my intention to make an official statement about his passing. I was not informed or aware I was being interviewed. I would never have been so insensitive as to offer a public statement so close to his untimely passing."

She added: "I sincerely apologize if my comment has caused any additional pain to his family during this difficult time. I send my deepest condolences for their loss... I was a major fan of Patrick's work, and would never do anything to hurt him or his family."

Suzanne had said the treatment Patrick received poisoned him and the she would have done things differently if she were his doctor including building him up nutritionally and then ridding him of toxins. Umm, does it matter that she was speaking to a reporter? If she didn't know the person that means she was perfectly willing to tell a stranger that she thought Patrick was poisoned. I'm guessing if she had an "official statement" to make she would have lied and not mentioned what she really thought? The whole thing kind of seems like a way to try and control the damage and incidentally get herself some more publicity when everyone writes that she apologized.

Oh, so now it decides to work...

*whatever*

Suzanne Somers needs to stfu.

Anyone seen the photos of what this bimbo "eats" in a single day? A giantpile of nuts and seeds adn fruits and supplements none of us could afford in a month, let alone a day.

IMO it stems from sheer vanity, not just trying to be healthy. And she is not a doctor, last time I checked.

Too late, Suzanne. I hate you now.

Sigh. If she was having a private conversation with someone, she had the right to express her own opinion. If she's telling the truth and this person then went ahead and published it, her private conversation was exploited.

She still didn't apologize for WHAT SHE SAID. Only for saying it 1. unknowingly to a reporter and 2. when he had just died. She didn't apologize for judging someone else's very personal choices and journey.

Oh, and do collagen injections to one's lips count as only putting something natural into one's body? I hadn't heard of the fruit, nut, seed and collagen diet.

I still like her and I don't think she's a mean person. She was a terrible actress who somehow made a fortune selling butt busters. I gotta give the old broad props.

Did anyone see the tribute to Patrick Swayze last night on Dancing With the Stars? It was very good. I got teary.

I do think she has the right to express her own opinion. I also think that when that opinion is publicized, she might have a little humility and see her opinion for what it is: just one opinion, about someone else's health care choices. She has the right to express her opinion. Common decency would dictate that she doesn't use her right to express her opinion, out of respect for Patrick. The kind thing to do would be to mourn his passing and wish his spirit well, not second guess what he should or shouldn't have done regarding such deeply personal choices for health care.

I'm not going to hold it against her. She said something in private that was made public. She is entitled to her beliefs and I don't think she needs to apologize for them.

Cancer patients get unsolicited advice all the time on wacky treatments and old wives tales. I'm sure whatever Suzanne had to say Patrick Swayze heard a dozen times during the past year.

She's looking awfully Linda Hogan-esque in that photo.

Is it just me, or does she look really scary. What did she do to her face. Maybe she need a toxin cleanse.

She's entitled to her opinion, but did she reach out to him and offer her advice when he was diagnosed?

And secondly, on the Barbara Walters special a few months back, he basically said that supercharging your diet with vitamins and alternative foods strengthens the body AND the cancer. (not a direct quote, obviously.

One of the main components of cancer is lack of oxygen. That's very controversial though.

i won't hold this to her. some journalist can be such sleaze hos.

from what i know suzanne and her husband bought the 'thighmaster' from an acquaintance who did not know what to do with it.

they took the product and ran with it. the rest is history.

As a friend once said, and as I have had to learn the hard way: Just because you think something doesn't mean that you have to say everything that comes into your head.

Chemo is poison. I think we all know that. Different people deal with that in different ways. No biggie. She does look rough. Way too much filler.

Let me offer a personal story. My aunt worked in a medical lab for over 40 years, and my sister's a nurse. Her sister contracted breast cancer at 61. There is no history of breast cancer in the family. She went through chemo, and ultimately it took her life. After her death, my aunt said to me that the cancer didn't kill her; the chemo did. I never understood how injecting poison into your body is supposed to cure you of cancer and not do anything else to the body. I agree with Suzanne's comment. I wouldn't be at all surprised that the chemo, along with Patrick's lifelong devoting to cigarettes, combined to kill him.

And the statement she made was not made public be her - it was done by someone else. I wouldn't apologize for it.

She said, apologized for it, and can now fade back into obscurity. No one cares about her.

The thing is--unless Suzanne was with Patrick when he underwent treatments, she really has no idea what he did or did not do to combat the cancer. The truth is that Pancreatic cancer is a death sentence.

Sorry but I am just hearing a high pitched whine everything I try to ready about this idiot. Screw me .. screw what she said.

But on a catty, bitchy note .. She need to talk to her dermatologist about smoothing her derma filler better. That nasty mass of filler above her lip on the right side of her face .. Ick. Nast.

I have a personal experience with chemo also...

My father was diagnosed with cancer and underwent chemo.
He went through 3 grueling rounds of it, and then with the tumor shrunk enough, was going to Johns Hopkins to have it removed.
Well, the trip was 2 weeks away and my father died one morning because the chemo killed him.
Weakened his heart.

Ms Somers has the right to her opinion and she has the right to express her opinion to whoever she wishes using whatever venue she wishes - and I have every right to say to her that she is bat shit crazy and that she needs to keep digging in that CrackerJack box for a valid MD license.
Of course, that's just my opinion.
You are free to have your own.
However, I can assure you that I won't be attempting to take advantage of a colleague's demise to garner publicity for myself.
