Sherlock Holmes First Cut Sucks
Apparently the executives over at Warner Brothers were not very happy when they saw the first cut of Sherlock Holmes. Actually not very happy is kind of an understatement. They said it wasn't good enough and that some parts of it were ridiculous. I generally like Guy Ritchie's movies with the exception being any that have featured Madonna in any way. Apparently Guy used his divorce from Madonna during the filming as a reason why the film sucks so bad. Even when she is not in front of a camera, Madonna has a way of jinxing a movie.
The news is that Guy is going to have to reshoot a lot of scenes which means getting Robert Downey Jr., Jude Law and Rachel McAdams back to do the scenes which probably won't be done as well as the original scenes because there will be less money, they won't be able to get the same locations, and the actor's will have forgot things about their characters and so the scenes may not mesh as well with the rest of the scenes which don't need to be reshot. This was Guy's big chance and he really needs this to not bomb at the box office unless he wants to go back and make another gangster movie in London which he should anyway because he kicks ass at those.

Swept Away is the only movie by Guy that didn't
need subtitles for me to understand it. Those Cockney English accents are crazy!
I THINK HE SHOULD STICK WITH WHAT HE DOES BEST....WHO REALLY NEEDS ANOTHER SHERLOCK HOLMES FILM...? HE HAS A GIFT WITH HIS OWN ORIGINAL MATERIAL AND THERE IS REALLY SO LITTLE OF THAT AROUND....ORIGINALITY

I love Guy's London gangster films. Gotta sit there really still and quiet, and it's fun to decipher. I can only do it at just the right attention level!
Plus Guy is sexy as hell. I want him to succeed, and kudos for trying to branch out.
Plus, he's the reason I know three big hogs can eat an entire adult male without a trace in like, what? 24 hours or something?

He's a one trick pony, and that trick ran out with his second film. He's a loser and can't blame anyone but himself. He just can't direct.

I bet he is making Sherlock in
the same vein as his gangster movies. The same style and everything. And I have a feeling the suits at the WB don't get it, so they're making Guy make the film more appealing to the American audience. Which is exactly why Hollywood is and has been in a creative nosedive for the last 10+ years. All the goddamn movies look the exact same.
I really hope he figures out a way to make it the way he wants to.
