Now That's Gossip

When you think of gossip, you always think of something sensational or juicy. I think there is so much gossip that it often becomes "so and so was using coke off his boyfriend's chest while the boyfriend was injecting his neighbor with heroin" and we just kind of become blase about it. OK, if that really happened it would be pretty cool. It actually has happened, but that is for another day. Anyway, juicy gossip. Very. Now, this particular gossip comes from France.

As you know I have had an obsession with the French Justice Minister for several months now. I began this obsession when I first discovered the European media was taking hundreds of photos of her each week when she was leaving the Wednesday cabinet meeting. At first I thought it was just because she was pregnant, but I have since learned from reading and all my European readers that the reason besides her being beautiful is that the identity of the father is a secret. No, it isn't me. I don't think. No, it couldn't be because the only thing I ever do when I go to France is drink red wine and butcher the language. Then I mumble something about seeing art and so go back to my hotel and stare at the paintings on the wall of my hotel room and order more wine.

So, the Minister gave birth via a C-Section on Friday and the top photo is her at the Cabinet meeting this morning. I know, I know. Plus, don't the French give you like 10 years off from work with pay when you have a baby?

So, where is the gossip? Apparently the rumor is right now that the father of the baby is actually the President of France. Yep. Which is why Carla and our Justice Minister do not exactly care for one another. My math is not great, but it would seem that the President would have had to do this after he was married, non? You like that little non in there. Very cool huh?
Feeding fuel to this theory is that for much of the last week of her pregnancy, the brother of the President was with Rachida and giving constant updates to his brother. See, she is the Justice Minister so I don't think constant updates are really necessary. The country can probably get along without her for a few weeks. I also thought that it was interesting that she went to the cabinet meeting today to see her baby's daddy at probably the only place they can see each other without the world watching.

Love this story. If you think it is boring because it is in France, substitute the President of France for the head of your country and it becomes a pretty damn good story.

Great, now I have a picture of George W. doing the nasty with Condie Rice. Thanks a lot, Enty.

I can't believe she's walking in heels after having a C-section last week.

And didn't Sarkozy cheat on his previous wife to be with Carla? What's that old Dear Abby saying? If they'll cheat with you, they'll cheat on you.

What the hell is she doing walking around that soon after a c-section? Holy crap. At that point in my life, I was a hot mess times 5 billion. Is she on a morphine drip? Does she see her baby at all? This is so wrong in so many ways.

She's tough - gotta give her that.

It would be a supersalacious shocker if Stephen Harper got someone else pregnant. Not sure who would want him.

dn - I thought the old expression was something like "when a man marries his mistress, he creates a job opening."

Sorry, don't believe that she just had a c-section. I just had an awesome one (as in excellent surgeon, no complications, and doctors couldn't believe how quickly I healed) in September, and there is NO WAY you can heal that quickly. Not happening. I didn't even eat or drink till the third and second day after the procedure (respectively).

No way. I smell something fishy, and I'm not just talking about the contents of Baldrick's apple crumble.

Gotta agree with all the ohter c-section moms .. I had a good one too, Amanda, and still, was not up for much. Its been 4 years and my old body has been replaced by this alien one that no diet or exercise can obliterate ...

You're right Ent, this is juicy stuff! Love it.

Didn't the Vanity Fair article have something about the French prez waffling between the former and current wife? Who knew he had time for a third woman? I don't know what he's got, but obviously he's got something going on.

oooh-la-la indeed, especially if you are right about your feeling, amanda!

I was barely upright 5 days after, let alone my belly looking incredibly huge still! No way, no how, not a stinking chance this woman had a c-sec.

And Shakey, I can't for the life of me seeing Harper having the emotionally capability of having an affair! It would require passion! Seriously, the man is a piece of wood.

shakey i see him with Sarah Palin...can you imagine that offspring shudder

This is some Juicy Gossip.
Love France.

Agree with Stephen Harper being a piece of wood. He's got zero chemistry.

Just reminded of his latest campaign ads on TV, where he was wearing the Grandpa cardigan. Ewwwww!

France consistently has GREAT gossip. They don't say oooh la la; it's oh la la. And for this they'd say oh la la, la la! No way did she have a C-section.
DN, yeah, people either cheat or they don't. Doesn't matter who they're with.

I know plenty of people who had c-sections and healed that fast. I mean, of course she wouldn't be COMPLETELY healed, but enough that she could walk to her sit-down job and all. I mean, give me a break. Maybe she just had a good surgery and a high tolerance for pain.

Stephen Harper having sex with anyone? Eeeew I just threw up in my mouth a little.

Harper can't even make love to the camera, hows he going to wine and dine Rob Nicholson?
maybe its the sweater vests but our PM is a fucking unich.

C-sections are no joke - they are MAJOR surgeries. You still have sutures in you up to day four postpartum, you're still draining, and all kinds of other things are happening that first week.

I had a baby in France and delivered at the American Hospital. I had 15 minutes of hard labor and had to push twice and they kept me in the hospital for five days. My doctor said it was standard in FRANCE. I can't believe this woman is walking around five dayS after a c-section.

ESCANDALO!!! (By the way, does anyone else think she looks like Sandra Bullock in the first picture?)

Oh, that Sarkozy. He's cute and charming, I'd probably do him as long as we didn't talk politics, but really--any female with a pulse and fewer than six legs knows by now what she's in for with him. There are plenty of American politicians who can't keep their pants on, they're just (usually) better at paying everyone off and concealing it.

As for Stephen Harper, I'd like to believe that Laureen is doing a great service to the human race by keeping his gobs of DNA out of our nation's collective gene pool. And I'm hoping my mother was right for once, and that his children came from under a cabbage. Or milkman.

What a gorgeous woman! However she had the baby, she is looking fab-u-lous!

We'll see if this Sarkozy connection is true if Carla divorces him.

Sarkozy is an emotional hot mess --no wonder he's been in so many problems with women!

jax said...

um if Harper were going to cheap you can be damn sure it wouldn't be a woman. dude has repressed christian homosexual written all over his sparkly blue eyes.

ElsieFire said...

LOL Jax.

Christy, no offense, but I would seriously doubt that "plenty" of people are fine after a mere 5 days after a C-sec. I gave birth on a Monday night, and they let me out of the hospital on Friday afternoon. I have a high pain threshold and I still needed help standing up and sitting DOWN, never mind the stair climbing, getting in and out of a car....

If they keep you in hospital for 5 days after natural childbirth in France, I seriously doubt that she was legging it out of the hospital TO HER JOB on Wednesday.

David D. said...

Jax: we don't want him. Can't we hand him off to someone else--farm animals perhaps?

That pic is an old one.

Vanity Fair did that article on Carla a few months back.. and I could not read it. Sarkozy had so many lovers the only way I could keep up was to write them down.. so I stopped reading.
Saw a NYT articles a few weeks back apparently the leader of France secret security taped his wife having an affair with Sarkozy too..
I think the French take a different view of affairs during marriage.. I think a man can screw around and still be a good politician.. AKA Bill Clinton. H

I walked 10 minutes after natural childbirth at home. Didn't need stitches mind you... But I was laid out for WEEKS after I had my appendix removed, and that was just having my abdominal wall sliced open, not my UTERUS!!!

Christy said...

Well, a close friend of mine gave birth last October via C-section. Two days later her baby passed away. She was on her feet from that point forward - making funeral arrangements, etc. I saw her a week after the surgery for the memorial, and if I didn't know she had surgery, I would never have guessed it.

So, again, everyone's experience is different. Sure, most people are out for some time, but not everyone, so it's not fair to say it's impossible she had a C-section that recently.

i normally don't care about this country of fuktards but the broad is hot so good for the prez.

In the pic of the the mommy she needs to be wearing those universal hospital socks with the grippy bottoms instead of the black heels.

When I had my son (natural) I got up and took a shower to clean myself off about a hour after he was born. Left the hospital after 2 days, so maybe its possible, if she delivered naturally and not c-section, though.
