Today's Blind Items - Kindness

Short, but good, and I think all of you will love how it just fits right in.

This must have happened about six months ago now. Chicago. In one corner you have a B list actor. Married. For now. A list name recognition. How about A+ name recognition. Anyway, our actor was in town doing some press, making some friends, drinking a little bit. Hey just because it is a kindness doesn't mean that it is going to be lovely dovey. He shouldn't, but he does. So, our actor befriended a few of the waitresses at this particular establishment. One of them came up to him and was talking about how some guy had ordered Cristal or something for his girlfriend for their six month anniversary or something and he then realized he had left his wallet at home. Our actor told the waitress to say that the manager had picked up the bill and our actor paid it. Our actor had such a good time doing that nice thing that he decided to pick up every tab in the place that night. He didn't announce it or scream it because then everyone would have just ordered and ordered. Instead, he spoke with the manager and as each person settled their bill they were told it was on the house and thanks for being such a good customer when instead each tab was actually paid for by the actor. Final bill? About $10,000. Plus tip. He is always a good tipper.

  2. wow.

that stuff never happens to me...sniff...

  3. HEE!

Did Ent do this just so we could stop guessing Affleck for every BI that comes after this?

If so I am sorry to inform him it probably will not work.

    ReplyDelete
  4. Aww, that's ok kris. Someone got his peepee in a knot today.

I have no guess. Scream - David Arquette? Huh. I'm terrible at these.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Aw come on now, Ben is just a little joke and it is funny how often he fits the blinds. It's not an insult to minorities, homosexuals, or those who suffer from mental illness. It may piss off Jennifer, but who cares about her?

I hope this guy is in the reveals so I can start stalking him in bars.

    ReplyDelete
  6. Oh come on, it has to be Assfleck. It's everywhere how Jen's about to leave him. "Married...for now."

  8. Bill Murray?

I said he was married at that point and he's a huge Chicago sports lover.

    ReplyDelete
  9. IT said he was married. I hate that u can't edit - lol

    ReplyDelete
  10. Actually, I take it back. The fact that Ent says that we'll all love how it "fits right in" must mean that he's finally giving us an Affleck blind. He even commented on yesterday's blind NOT being Affleck. So, Affleck it is.

    ReplyDelete
  11. I think all of you will love how it just fits right in.

This is why I think it's Ben. Why would Ent say "it just fits right in"?

    ReplyDelete
  12. Jerry Seinfeld!?? Bee Movie came out in Decemeber 2007....approx..6 months ago...

    ReplyDelete
  13. Robert Downey Jr.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Sounds more like something Damon would do... but yeah, it could be Affleck.

    ReplyDelete
  15. "fits right in"

shouldn't drink... but he does (went to rehab?)

Good tipper. I'm sure there's info out there on this.

    AFFLECK.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Seinfeld fits, except that he hates alcohol.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Has to be Ben...He's known for being a generous tipper.

    ReplyDelete
  18. "Short but good..." Devito!??

    ReplyDelete
  19. lol Wasn't there a blind some time ago about an actor pretty much supporting some strippers with his tips? I'm sure Ben was a big guess then as well.

    ReplyDelete
  20. No way it's Seinfeld.

Wouldn't Affleck be A List because of his Oscar?

    ReplyDelete
  21. October 11th 2007 Ben Affleck in Chicago for the opening of Gone Baby Gone,,, HEE!!!! Sooooo Affleck! FINALLY!

    ReplyDelete
  22. Seinfeld I guess hates alcohol but I think he has shit tons more money than Ben Affleck.

Affleck is married, a good tipper, B list actor with definitely A+ name recognition.

If we didn't always guess Affleck, I would be guessing him here hands down.

Ben Affleck won The Chicago Film Critic's Award in 2007 Most Promising Filmmaker for directing "Gone Baby Gone". Ceremony was Jan 7, 2007, about six months ago . . .

  25. I wouldn't be surprised if this one actually is Affleck. Good for him if it was. Whoever this guy is, I hope he is revealed in the big Fourth of July reveal; very much looking forward to that. Make it huge, Enty!

    ReplyDelete
  26. Love the hints:

    1. fits right in.
    2. Married. For now.
    3. A+ name recognition.
    4. ...drinking a little bit. ... He shouldn't, but he does.
    5. ...befriended a few of the waitresses...
    6. ...always a good tipper.

    BEN AFFLECK!!

    ReplyDelete
  27. Does Ben have that much money to throw around?

    ReplyDelete
  28. Maybe it's Dustin Hoffman since he's right on top?

    ReplyDelete
  29. acetomato77, it is 200EIGHT. Your suggestion is a year and a half ago.

    ReplyDelete
  30. I'm going with Affleck.

    BEN AFFLECK
winner of Best Celebrity Tourist in the Reader's poll.

Everybody knows the personable actor as a silver screen heartthrob. But to legions of Las Vegas casino workers, he's known as something else: a fun-loving guy and a big tipper. During the past 2-1/2 years, Affleck reportedly twice doled out about $150,000 in tips after big wins at the Hard Rock Hotel. We figure that must have had something to do with Affleck's second-straight, and decisive, win over George Clooney. Compare and contrast with ...

That bit was a few years ago. I haven't read anything different.

    ReplyDelete
  31. I thought of Affleck immediately.

There was another kindness blind that ENT eventually revealed about Ben helping someone who was stranded on the freeway or something. He seems like the type of person who would do this.

    ReplyDelete
  32. Nicolas Cage...

    National Treasure release was 12/21/07.

But you guys love Affleck... and you sound right.

    ReplyDelete
  33. Wasn't Affleck the subject of a kindness BI reveal wherein he did the same type of thing? Helping stranded motorists, then paying for a hotel and dinner for them?

It's Affleck. Live it, love it, deal with it.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Anonymous2:07 PM

parisssucks, actually, since Gone Baby Gone came out last fall (2007), I think acetomato just had a typo in the date of the ceremony.

    good research, ace.

    ReplyDelete
  35. How about Mel Gibson? Is he a big tipper?

    ReplyDelete
  36. Sean Penn

    or

    Robert Downey Jr

    ReplyDelete
  37. Oh my Goooodddd, you guys! I think it's Affleck, too. And I get so. freaking. annoyed when people always guess him, but yes, I think that whole "fit right in" thing is an obvious clue, and Enty is always making references to the Affleck's crumbling marriage.

Plus, Ben used to love Scores and other nudie bars, and he tipped the strippers a lot, didn't he? I mean, it's not as if I worked there or anything. But my Grandma had a bunch of old National Enquirers around, and I think that I remember reading about his status as a good tipper around the whole Bennifer Part One bustup.

He seems like a pretty salt-of-the earth dude, despite the shit that's constantly being bandied about when it comes to his rep. And he's rich enough to do this.

I've heard that Bill Murray is a gigantic dickhead in real life, and Jerry Seinfeld just kinda SEEMS like he'd be a non-generous choad.

    ReplyDelete
  38. I think it was a typo on acetomato's part.

Here is a complete list of the winners of the 19th Annual Chicago Film Critics Awards, which will be presented at a ceremony to be held on January 7, 2008.

  39. Can't be Cage b/c Lisa Marie said he was CHEAP.

    ReplyDelete
  40. I have no clue, but I have to say I'm really happy to see such a lovely 'Kindness' blind after the horrific blind from yesterday...

    ReplyDelete
  41. aw, enty. you are too sweet, throwing us an affleck bone!

    ReplyDelete
  42. Also wouldn't be Cage because Ent can't stand him, and I think Ent would alluded to that fact (like that time Eva Longoria was a kindness and he said something like it hurt him to even acknowledge the fact), and/or he would have gotten in a jab at Nic somewhere in the blind.

Mel Gibson is such an asshole that I'd never think to guess him. Wasn't he the BI answer (or the most popular guess for the blind) about the guy who liked to film most of his projects in certain countries because he didn't have to obey labor laws and could get away with making the people involved work 12+ hour days for next to nothing?

The thing with Ben is that he is known to bleed his money - besides being known to tip well, he loves to gamble and I remember when he was with JLo there was talk that she tried to put a curb on that (which is kind of ironic considering how much she just loves to spend), but it was difficult to impossible because her mo likes to gamble too, and they'd hit up the tables together. As a matter of fact, if he is actually any good at it, that may be why he does have some or most of the money he does. I'm purely speculating now.

I do seriously think this BI is Ben though.

    ReplyDelete
  43. Oh no! I went to the pediatrician and missed a REAL Affleck blind. That's it--I will never leave my house again. Next year my kids can take themselves for check ups.
So--we finally have one where Ben actually fits without a stretch. YAY!

    ReplyDelete
  44. man, do i even have to say it? AFFLECK, lovesit.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I love that Ent plays along.

    ReplyDelete
  46. here in vegas awhile ago, ben won a bunch of money & tried to tip his cocktail waitress something like $20,000. Her boss was like "no, no, no, she can't keep that" but i guess Benny Boy said he would never come back if she couldn't have her money.

    She got her money.

i think that was at mandalay bay if i remember correctly.

    ReplyDelete
  47. Tell those kids to take the bus, Adrian. You've got better things to do.

I just love it when Ent plays along with us.

    ReplyDelete
  48. It's like hanging out with the popular kids over here!!

    ReplyDelete
  49. So not that we have a TRUE Affleck blind, does this mean that people can get off the A-train for awhile? Because while he does seem to fit almost anywhere, it is starting to get a touch old.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Better Affleck than FIRST

    ReplyDelete
  51. ok, well now i can't seem to find anything about it. It was around the Good Will Hunting/Armageddon/Gwyneth days. Not the J.Lo days.

it was big big news here!!!!!!!!

    ReplyDelete
  52. Hee, so Affleck! And I don't know why, but I have always liked him and Matt Damon, no matter the rap they seem to get in the tabloid press. There is something almost . . . normal about them.

    I can't help it.

    OG

    ReplyDelete
  53. ...and Mel Gibson's wife will never divorce him -- they're old-school Catholics, and if she was apt to divorce, she would have done so during his debacle.

    ReplyDelete
  54. Ben does seem so normal--that is what is so funny about him being guessed for every blind.
Except for the Bennifer years, he seems like an average guy who hit it big.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Ashton Kutcher. See the random photo of Demi Moore and the comment about them never being seen together any more.

    ReplyDelete
  56. Someone find out why Jennifer is leaving Ben then!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Maybe Jen thinks he is the answer to all the blinds, too. It would make me leave him.

Oy, this blog is having an affleckt on me.

    ReplyDelete
  58. adrian i LOVE your little picture!!! "taco flavored kissses for my bennnnnn!!!!"

    ReplyDelete
  59. "Oy, this blog is having an affleckt on me."

Oh, Adrian. All I can say is: you are a wordsmith, and I truly wish I had thought of it first.

    ReplyDelete
  60. gossipmonger---how funny is that episode?! I love South Park. I was actually going to use Butters, but to quote Ent, "it just fits right in".

    ReplyDelete
  61. Bwa ha ha ha ha ha ha! ADRIAN!!! "affleckt"

    Pure. Gold.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I think Chicago is a clue. Richard Gere -- B list actor (I don't think he's anyone's top pick for movie's) but still A+ name rec.

    Or Ben Affleck. sry

    ReplyDelete
  63. Any chance Ben Affleck might be a CDAN reader? I think we need to invite him to join us on Enty's facebook page.

    ReplyDelete
  64. Anonymous7:03 PM

It it looks like an Affleck, smells like an Affleck, and quacks like an Affleck, must be an Affleck!

    ReplyDelete
  65. Ben Who-fleck?

LOL - just kidding! I like Ben...he was da BOMB in "Phantoms", yo! Plus, I actually LIKE "Jersey Girl" & he's 'sposed to be a pretty good guy in real life. So sue me.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Ashton had a movie out around then. Maybe the "fits right in" is having to do with the comment ent did with Demi's pic today.

    ReplyDelete
  67. I always get pissed when people guess Affleck, but this is definitely him. B list actor, with A+ name recognition. If anything ever fit Affleck, it is this statement.

    ReplyDelete
  68. Awww! For once it IS Ben Affleck! I guess we'll all have to find another running joke now. :)
Cute story, though. The guy needs to watch the booze since rehab, but he's always been a wonderful tipper in stories like these. Warms the heart, it does.

Back late - sorry my confusing post earlier - I've time traveled back to 2008 . . . using the Terminator method . . .

I shouldn't have a martini when I watch South Park.

PS Yay Ben Affleck. I love that guy.

    ReplyDelete
  70. Robin Williams.

He's in the middle of a divorce, so he's married (for now).

    ReplyDelete
  71. Definitely Ben...Married for now...and shouldn't be drinking.

    Plus A+ recognition here.:)

    ReplyDelete
  72. "...he was da BOMB in 'Phantoms', yo!"

    Best. DVD commentary. EVER!

    c17, I love you.

    ReplyDelete
  73. Crazy Ted just outed their marital problems.

    ReplyDelete
  74. Mooshki, I hope none of us had anything to do with it. If it is true, that is a shame.

    ReplyDelete
  75. I doubt it, Adrian. I don't think they've ever been completely solid - they've spent a lot of time apart since early on in the marriage. I think that even if they don't want to be married to each other anymore, they clearly are still friends, and great parents, so I don't think it'll be a tragedy if they split.

    ReplyDelete
  76. Bill Murray....

    Has many Chicago connections,
    Ent said: "married. for now."
And we all know there's trouble
    in the Murray household.

And Murray is a good tipper...

    ReplyDelete
  77. haha, the readers of cdan being be Ted Casablancas sources!!!!

    how could we!?

lmfao @ "da bomb in phantoms"

& also, just to put it out there, i really like ben affleck. & jennifer garner as well. & i don't even have to mention the cuteness of violet.

    ReplyDelete
  78. the best part of the story is that ben let the restaurant take the credit.

    ReplyDelete
  79. i think it is Robin Williams! Short...but good....Robin is really short! i was in Bucktown, (trendy, artsy neighborhood in Chicago)shopping with my girlfriend when Robin Williams walked out of a bar right in front of us. he was was really cool and sweet to everybody. Just totally casual like he fit right in!
